Heroquest Larp/Lrp Campaign News
Below you will find the latest news and rumours circulating the Towers of the Kern Valley Alliance. Any Heroquest larp character may be assumed to have received this information from their guild or through conversing with other adventurers. The most recent information is at the top, with older messages towards the bottom.
Mission Reports
Below is some information that has been reported by various Valley groups active within Orin Rakatha and members of the Seekers, Pathfinders and Hunters:
- All Shadowsfall groups that have been encountered have been reported to be moving in the direction of the Central Isle.
- Following earlier reports about Axians accompanying other Towers, there have been no further sightings.
- Hordelings have been reported moving in numbers within the Pass of Jade, the Valgrind Pass and the Last Gate Wood; although statussed groups do still seem to attract Hordelings as usual.
- The World Window is closed for business; the Dai-Fah-Dyne have been seen in some numbers within the waystations surrounding the World Window. This has severely impacted upon the King's business in Murandir.
- As the nights draw in more and more creatures of Darkness and Shadow have been seen roaming Orin Rakatha, in much greater numbers than in previous years. A "Spirit of Darkness" was seen outside Wolfhold on All Hallows Eve.
- The Northern Alliance seems to be in some difficulty due to "Kalid issues" as well as the Northern and Southern Saldorian Towers appearing to be at odds. The Ikarthian Treaty however has appeared to have gained in strength, the Knight of Our Dark Lady known as Sir Malleus Du Eglise has now taken charge of the Ikarthian Treaty forces and these have led successful missions against the Northern Alliance all over Orin Rakatha.
- At All Hallows a ritual was undertaken outside Wolfhold that renewed the casting above Rank 5 for some of the Dymwan who had lost their invocations; however many Dymwan seem to have lost their lives as rivalries sparked violence between members of the 2 towers. The Dymwan are somewhat diminished and it is thought that they will not be able to hold onto 2 towers for much longer. Also due to the actions of a White Retreat led group not all Necromancy Invocations above Rank 5 was restored to the Necromancers who lost their access.
- The Wolfhold Necromancers Sect received a great boon from the Tombs of the Dymwan at All Hallows Eve and it is rumoured that a new Assistant Guildleader will soon be announced.
- A joint mission from the Celestial Bureaucracy, Halmadon's Heights and the Saldorian Brotherhood of Purity & Light has been received in the White Retreat – it is unknown at this time what their purpose is.
A Message from The Druid Sect
Arbor is pleased to announce that Erf, Hierophant and twice Hero of the Valley has been returned to us. His spirit has resided upon the Realm of Battle on the Plane of the Sleepless Dead for several years now, acting as an anchor and beacon of light for Fallen members of the Kern Valley. Erf recently played a pivotal role on a highly dangerous and important mission for the Kern Valley, this resulted in his spirit being changed and bound to the Evil Sphere. Luckily Erf has now been returned to us and we are working to restore him to his old self. As is typical, Erf has taken all of this in his stride and should be commended on once again performing another act of selfless commitment and bravery, supporting his fellow members of the Kern Valley.
A Message from the King
King Paullandiss is delighted to announce a great boon that the Kern Valley has received. Anubis, an Aspect of Death, has revealed a mechanism that has made it possible for some of our fallen to be able to be returned to us.
When an adventurer falls for the final time, their spirit travels on to its final resting place, known as "the Beyond". Some of the Fallen travel immediately to the Beyond and rejoin the Life Sphere, whilst others travel through various planes or states of existence before reaching the Beyond (how long this takes and where people go, depends upon their beliefs). A large number of Fallen reside at a place called the Hall of Heroes, until they feel the time is right to move into the Beyond.
It is now possible for some of our Fallen people to be able to be returned to life rather than pass into the Beyond. Once an individual travels to the Beyond, there is no return. In order for one of our Fallen to be able to be returned, their spirit needs to be located and spoken with; they then have a choice:
- They can choose to return to life as they were immediately prior to their death, with all of their skills and abilities, but with no spirit strength.
- They can choose to be "reborn" in a new body, with all of their memories intact, but none of their previous skills and abilities.
- Or they can choose to enter the Beyond.
It should be noted that the Fallen can only return to life if they wish to, if somebody still alive wishes them to return and their story is taken and recorded into the Book of Anubis. The Fallen cannot be forcibly returned, or return without the co-operation of a living Kern Valley member. It should also be noted that the Kern Valley is the only Tower upon Orin Rakatha that is able to do this.
