Larping Biographies - Dreams of Shadows
Before the towers there were seven tribes of peoples called the true human beings. These existed alongside all the other humans and other races. These tribes were;
- The Shawonabe (Tribe of the North)
- The Alakristar (The Skywatchers)
- The Mannitou (Tribe of the Bear)
- The Mus Qah Tal (Tribe of the Dreaming)
- The Pecante (Tribe of the Lake)
- The Imbshee (Tribe of the Sun)
- The Jabal (The Fierce Tribe).
When the towers came the true human beings gathered together and it was decided that they would join together to gain a tower to better withstand the green plague of Orin Rakatha. The seven chiefs met to decide an overall chief to represent the true human beings. The chief of the Jabal was self important and was so sure that he would be chosen that when the Pecante chief was chosen he was consumed with rage and jealousy.
He returned to his peoples and declared that the Jabal would not join with the other Tribes in the tower and also that they would make war upon the Pecante. This was devastating news, insofar as without the status of the Jabal the true human beings were unable to gain a tower. No sooner had the chiefs of the tribes received word of this the Jabal overran the camp of the Pecante slaying all the men, women and children - there were no survivors. The remaining tribes were appalled by this genocide and determined to put an end to the Jabal. The chief of the Jabal had made some overtures to the hordlings and the combined Jabal/hordling army managed to hold off the true human beings for many years but slowly they lost.
Near the end in desperation the Jabal chief looked to black arts to save himself and consorted with a female Hepath, through her he fathered five children who he secreted away with a plan for revenge. These were:
- Myogorith of the Beguiling Eye
- Slaikandorith of the Pestilential Hand
- Tratopseris of the Iron Sinews
- Anarchamith of the Changing Form
- Keselithis the Fleet Footed.
The remaining tribes were eventually successful although during the war the Mus Qah Tal were wiped out. The remaining four tribes went back to their lands and lived the life of towerless people. 20 years later the Imbshee were wiped out through disease and the attacks of hordlings, the other tribes grieved but thought nothing sinister of this. When the Mannitou started to succumb to the same disease however the tribes investigated and discovered the Jabal brood. These were destroyed but at great cost to the tribes. The Mannitou were greatly weakened and somewhat changed by their encounter with the Jabal Brood. The tribe became berserkers allied to dark powers and came to be known as the Bearwalk. These had a twisted view of the remaining tribes engendered by their association with Myogorith (one of the Jabal brood who had the ability to spread insanity). The change took many years to accomplish and the Bearwalk existed in the shadows, making occasional raids into Alakristar and Shawonabe territory. Some 20 years ago the Bearwalk discovered means of returning the Jabal Brood to unlife and succeeded in summoning the five. With their aid they were able to destroy the Alakristar, although there were a few survivors. The Shawonabe discovered the plot and were again able to destroy the Jabal in time. About six years ago the Kalid wished to expand their influence into the Shawonabe homeland and a man by the name of Bronath of the Doth Loadass was given the task of destroying them. He discovered what had happened in the past and was able to recreate the summoning ritual for the Jabal Brood; he was even able to recruit the Bearwalk to his aid. During the intervening years the Bearwalk had taken a number of towerless peoples and instructed them in the dark arts they practised. To facilitate their plan they had cloned a troll by the name of Skullbash Bonebreak as a physical vessel to summon each of the Jabal Brood into. However when they discovered Bronath had already summoned the Jabal brood to Orin they sent the Skullbash clones to the area where the summoning ritual had taken place to capture the spirits of the Jabal Brood.
The Shawonabe due to the emergence of the disease and the fact that members of the tribe were going insane asked the Valley peoples for aid. They discovered the summoning ritual and destroyed both it and the Jabal Brood. They also slew all of the Skullbash clones. The Shawonabe were so greatly weakened by this that they were not able to withstand the encroachment of the Dymwan and their undead and there are very few of them left, most existing within other bands of towerless people.
Dreams is a shaman of the Alakristar people who was a child when the tribe was destroyed and spent his formative years with the Shawonabe tribe. There he studied with the Shawonabe shamans; Moon Dances, Whitesun and Looks in Dark Places. Shortly after the first Valley group had spent time with the Shawonabe Dreams made a journey to Halmadon's Height as his spiritual power was unlike that of the shamans of the Shawonabe. There he spent a few months learning the ways of the good sphere but did not like the rigid discipline expected of him. As an alternative the White Retreat was suggested and he joined soon after Group Amethyst started adventuring. He joined with them and the rest is relatively well known. Dreams currently abides in the White Retreat.
